Simultaneous interpretation systems and interpreter booths
We implement simultaneous interpretation systems for multilateral forums, congresses and session rooms that operate in several languages. Clean audio on every channel, from the interpreter's booth to the delegate's receiver.
For forums and rooms that work in several languages, ProAVCom integrates Vissonic simultaneous interpretation: VIS-INT64 interpreter desks, infrared distribution with the VIS-VL1700A transmitter and receivers for attendees. We installed a Vissonic infrared system for ECLAC’s forums in Santiago.
What is simultaneous interpretation and how does the system work?
Simultaneous interpretation lets a session take place in several languages at the same time. The interpreter listens to the speaker through a console and translates in real time; their voice is distributed over an independent channel that each delegate selects on their receiver. The system manages switching between languages, relief between interpreters and audio quality on each channel. A complete interpretation installation combines booths that acoustically isolate the interpreter, interpreter consoles with channel and input/output control, a distribution unit and the receivers delegates carry. Distribution can be by infrared — which confines the signal to the room and provides confidentiality — or over a digital network, depending on the number of languages and the architecture of the venue. The system integrates with conference and voting, so a single room can deliberate, vote and interpret without redundant equipment.
When do you need a simultaneous interpretation system?
Simultaneous interpretation is needed wherever several languages coexist in the same session:
- International organizations and multilateral agencies
- Congresses, summits and diplomatic forums
- Parliamentary session rooms with foreign delegations
- International corporate and academic events
- Courts with parties who speak different languages
Interpretation booth: what it needs
An interpretation booth has to isolate the interpreter from room noise, give them a direct view of the speaker and deliver clean audio of the speech. Inside the booth, each interpreter works with a desk that selects the input and output channels, and with a headset. The Vissonic VIS-INT64 and VIS-INT64-P desks handle 64 channels (63 languages plus the floor), with direct and relay interpretation, and the manufacturer declares compliance with ISO 20109, 2603 and 4043. Each interpreter's voice reaches the delegates by infrared or over a digital network. At the ECLAC forums we worked with 6 interpretation booths and 6 simultaneous languages.
Vissonic simultaneous interpretation equipment
We integrate Vissonic interpretation systems, with booths, interpreter consoles, infrared or digital network distribution and receivers. The system is sized to the number of languages, the capacity of the room and the level of confidentiality required. We have direct experience in highly demanding installations, such as ECLAC's multilateral forums, where the solution must operate in several languages simultaneously with full availability throughout the session.

Simultaneous interpretation FAQ
It depends on the configuration: from two languages to multilingual installations with multiple booths and channels. The system is sized to the planned working languages and the possibility of adding more in the future.
