What is a conference system and how does it work?

A conference system is the set of delegate microphones, central control unit, management software and peripherals that lets you manage the floor, debate and voting in a room. Each delegate has a unit with a microphone and a button to request a turn; the central unit coordinates the interventions, controls the number of active microphones and records the session. These systems fall into two main families. Wired systems connect each unit through a digital bus and offer maximum stability, minimal latency and permanent availability, which makes them the usual choice for heavily used session rooms. Wireless systems dispense with fixed cabling, deploy quickly and are ideal for multipurpose rooms or temporary installations. On this base, advanced functions are added such as electronic voting, simultaneous interpretation, minutes recording and session streaming.
